The San Jose State University Catholic Campus Ministry Fund supports Catholic programs at the university. The Diocese of San Jose has partnered with FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) to bring on-campus outreach, discipleship and more to the campus.
Additional funding will allow the program to serve more students and offer richer programming for all.

Current Opportunities for Growth
The Newman Center: The physical space of the Newman Center requires updating to improve functionality and reflect the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere of the program.
Spring Retreat: The retreat is a highlight for many students – one participant referred to the 3-day retreat as “life changing.” Renting the retreat space is expensive but well worth the investment as students use the time away from campus to grow in their faith amidst the peace and beauty of God’s creation.
SEEK Conference Scholarships: Each year the program offers scholarships to a number of SJSU students to attend the national SEEK Conference where students are energized by growing in their faith with other Catholic university students from across the country.
Expanding the Program: Additional funding is needed to continue to serve the growing number of students involved in the regular campus ministry events and activities.

Going to an out of state college, I was looking for a Catholic community to help me on my faith journey as a Catholic college student. I found the SJSU Newman Center and in doing so, I have created so many memories, have had so many beautiful experiences, and have made wonderful friends within a Catholic community of young adults. This community has helped keep my faith burning- loving and adoring our Lord with those around me and striving for Holiness together is something I will always cherish.

When I first came to the Newman Center, I was hesitant to enter into a faith community, thinking I wouldn’t be able to fit in. However, when I entered the upper room for the first time, I met a group of people who accepted me and made me feel welcome on the very first day. All of these people are now my friends, my second family, leading me closer to God every day. The Newman Center has events almost every day – my favorite is Revival, where there is a guest speaker, adoration, candlelit Mass and retreat, which is life-changing each year I go. Now I am inspired to be a leader at Newman to give back to the community that welcomed me with open arms. I want to make others not only feel welcome, but I aspire to love them the way Christ loves us. With your support, you are helping our Newman Center expand and have an even greater impact on the SJSU community and beyond.
