On October 29, 2024, advisors from around the Bay Area gathered in San Jose to hear about how conversations about philanthropy are impacting the lives of clients and advisors alike. The Foundation presented the annual Capstone Advisor Session featuring three panelists who shared their unique perspectives on the topic of philanthropy and how the conversations between clients and advisors is enriching the overall experience of both parties. The panel shared stories from their personal experiences which showcased the important role advisors play in inspiring, encouraging and implementing charitable giving.
The panel consisted of two advisors and one client who shared their personal experiences. Darin Donovan, Partner at Lathrop GPM, and Anne Macdonald, Tax Partner at Frank, Rimmerman + Co., shared stories from their long careers in estate planning and tax. Rene Ho, a fund holder at the Catholic Community Foundation, spoke to his experience from the client/donor side and how his advisors helped him on his philanthropic journey toward more strategic and impactful giving.
The panel discussion covered topics including trends in philanthropy, examples of how clients utilized giving vehicles in unique ways, and strategies that have been helpful for clients. The conversation was engaging, and the knowledge and thoughtfulness of the panel was evident.
