On March 17, the Foundation closed the application for the 14th annual Spring Grant Cycle. Over 45 parishes and parochial schools in the Diocese of San Jose submitted 151 applications in an effort to receive funding for their programs. Over $300,000 was awarded to programs throughout the Diocese.
The Foundation offers grants in 7 categories:
- Apolonia Andre Fund for Liturgical Music
- Clergy Leadership
- Family Life
- Lay and Religious Leadership
- Parish Outreach
- Parish Stewardship
- Pastoral Ministry Training and Formation
Each year, the Foundation receives many more applications than our funding can support. This year the Foundation met only 39% of the need that was requested. Applications for programs with compelling needs and large impact rise to the top during the review process. The Foundation received applications for many interesting and vital programs from parishes throughout the Diocese. Below you will find a few programs which were awarded grants this year:
Apolonia Andre Fund for Liturgical Music:
Saint Elizabeth Parish’s “Music Ministry Improvement & Support” program provides materials for their music ministry which serves 7 weekend masses in 3 languages.
Family Life:
Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish’s “Walking with the Domestic Church” program provides activities, education, and prayer to help families understand the role of the Domestic Church and evangelization inside the family.
Parish Outreach:
2023 Two-Year Grant Recipient: Santa Teresa Parish’s “Everybody Loves a Baby” program provides new mothers and pregnant women with supplies and support.
Pastoral Ministry Training and Formation:
Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish’s “Adults’ Faith Formation” program provides an opportunity for parishioners to learn more about the Eucharist and become more engaged in their faith.
Funding for the grants in these seven categories comes from endowments which are managed by the Foundation. An endowment is a permanent fund – meaning that it will continue to grow and grant FOREVER. The Foundation is proud to provide these grants to impactful local programs, and we are grateful to the donors who contributed to the creation and growth of these endowments.
