Carolina Scipioni
Endowment and Planned Giving Program Manager
Carolina is the Foundation’s newest staff member. We are so fortunate that she is here brightening up our office with her upbeat personality and using her new perspective and skills to shape our planned giving program.
Where did you grow up and what was your favorite part about growing up there?
I grew up in the town of Corrientes, Argentina. A colonial town on the eastern banks of the Parana River. My favorite part about growing up there was, of course, the SIESTAS. Nap time was and still is mandatory in my hometown. As kids, we could do whatever we wanted during those hours as long as we didn’t wake up our parents. My best memories with my siblings, creativity and sense of adventure, were cultivated from that time in the day.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like discovering new places with my husband and my four kids. Traveling far or locally excites us just the same. There are so many places to see and so many people to meet! We all learn so much by exploring!
What’s your favorite Christmas movie?
It’s a Wonderful Life.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume?
Italian blood runs through my veins and I can’t deny it…I’m a foody. I’m always seeking new food experiences wherever I go and have a preference for bold flavors. Especially, I’m always looking to taste strong cappuccinos, extra dark chocolate and stinky cheeses. Having been trained in cross-cultural communication, I also view food as a wonderful way to learn about other cultures and love trying different ethnic foods and the different ingredients that they use.
Why is your faith important to you?
I once read that faith has two parts: To believe in our minds that Christ can save us and to actually trust Him to do it. Looking back I realize that during difficult moments my faith kept me strong. Because I believed AND because I trusted, I was able to take the passenger seat and let God drive me. God is a better driver than I could ever be on my own! That is the single most important thing my husband and I want to teach our kids!
What is your favorite part about working at the Foundation?
I am discovering new things about the Foundation every day, but if I had to pick right now, I would say that my favorite part about working at the Foundation is helping connect generous people to amazing Catholic ministries. It’s exciting to be a witness when treasure meets time and talent.
What is something you still have left on your bucket list?
During Holy Week, Antigua (Guatemala) hosts what must be the most beautiful religious celebration in the world. The entire city participates in adorning the streets with colorful carpets of flowers making spectacular designs for the procession depicting the last days of Christ. If God allows, I will make it to Antigua one Easter.
